The SOUTH SHORE LIONS CLUB Welcomes You!
The South Shore Lions Club was established in 1950. Club members are from the South Shore Community which includes Cornucopia, Herbster and Port Wing and the surrounding area. The organization has always played an active role in the communities it serves. The club holds two annual fundraising events each year. They are a Father’s Day Weekend Fishing contest that is both Saturday and Sunday. The Fall Festival is held annually on Sunday, Labor Day Weekend; it is one full day with events for everyone.
The annual South Shore Lion’s Father’s Day Weekend Fishing Contest is held at the Port Wing Municipal Boat Ramp, with fishing on Lake Superior.
Entry fee covers one person, daily launch fee and one raffle ticket with children 15 and under Free.
This event also includes a Grand Raffle.
The annual South Shore Lion’s Fall Festival and Classic Car Show is held in and around the Port Wing Pavilion on WI State Highway 13 and Grand Avenue.
This event kicks off at 7am with a 5K 10K walk run followed with a kid’s race.

The funds raised at these two events are distributed locally, as well as the Wisconsin Lions Foundation. Recipients include:
- South Shore School Senior Class, two scholarships awarded annually, beginning in 1980
- Over $8000 in assistance has been distributed to local families in need
- Handicap accessible playground equipment, for the South Shore School District
- Camp Fees for Badger Camp
- BRICK Food Shelf
- Youth Educational Opportunities
- Playground equipment for the Port Wing School Memorial Park
- The Jaws of Life Fund, an Imaging Camera and GPS for the South Shore Fire Association and the South Shore Ambulance Association
- Support of local 4-H Club
- Port Wing Historical Society
- Lions Eye Bank
- Port Wing Beach Boardwalk Project
The local Lions Club Eyeglass program has collected countless pairs of eye glasses and sent them on to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation for recycling. This program now includes recycling hearing aides. Local members assist in Vision Screening at South Shore School District.
Nationally the Club donates to the Lions Club Camp, near Stevens Point, WI, a summer program to serve the blind and visually impaired and deaf/hard of hearing children ages nine through seventeen. Also to the Leader Dogs for the Blind a program dedicated to improve safe and independent living by enhancing quality of life.
The South Shore Lions Club is a group of dedicated, hard-working people. The Lions Club is always seeking new members. If interested in joining the club, we invite you to attend a monthly meeting.
Meetings are held second Tuesday of each month, 7 pm at various locations
